Educational Qualification

  • Aspiring candidates must possess a degree of Bachelor of Laws from a University established by the law and approved/recognized by the Bar Council of India.
  • Punjabi up to Matric or its equivalent standard.

Important: The candidate should hold a degree of Bachelor of Law on the last date of receipt of the application form.

Age Limits: The candidate should not be less than 21 years and not more than 37 years at the time of selection. 

  • The upper age limit for a candidate belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes of all States and Backward Classes of Punjab only shall be up to 42 years.
  • The upper age limit is relaxable up to 45 years for all States/ Central Government employees.
  • Ex-serviceman Domiciled in Punjab shall be allowed to deduct the period of their service in the Armed Forces of the Union from their actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for direct appointment to such a vacancy in the Service Rules concerned by more than three years, they shall be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding age limit.
  • Upper age is also relaxable up to 42 years for Widows, Divorcees, and certain other categories of Women.
  • The upper age limit is also relaxable up to 47 years for Physically Handicapped Persons who have a domicile in Punjab

Nationality: Candidate must be

  • Citizen of India or 

A citizen of Nepal, or

  • A subject of Bhutan or 
  • A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962  with the intention of permanently settling in India, or 
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and East African countries of  Kenya, Uganda, and the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly-TraTanganyikad Zanzibar) Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Govt. of India.

A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be provisionally admitted to the examination conducted by the Selection Committee on his furnishing proof that he has applied for the certificate but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Govt. of India.
